Privacy Policy

Heat Seat (“we”, “us”) is a classroom engagement tracker for teachers at heatseatedu.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It is written for an early product and is not legal advice.
Information we collect
- Account information: email address, password (stored and managed by our auth provider), and optional display name.
- Classroom data you enter: class names, student names and initials, seating layouts, session dates, engagement ratings, attendance or absent marks, classroom energy level, and optional notes.
- Service data: basic technical information needed to run and secure the service (such as authentication sessions).
Students do not create accounts. There is no separate student login.
How we use information
We use this information only to provide Heat Seat: seating charts, session logging, dashboards, account authentication, and support. We do not sell student or teacher data. We do not use classroom data for advertising.
Who can access your data
Each teacher’s classes, students, and sessions are scoped to that teacher’s account. Other teachers cannot see your classroom data through the product. We may access account or classroom data only as needed to operate, secure, or support the service, or if required by law.
Where data is stored
Heat Seat is hosted on Vercel. Authentication and database services are provided by Supabase. Data may be processed and stored in the United States or other regions where these providers operate.
Student information
Teachers may enter student names and engagement information as part of their professional classroom use. Heat Seat does not market to children. You are responsible for using the product in line with your school’s policies and applicable education privacy rules.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account and classroom data while your account is active so the product can work. Archiving items in the app may hide them from everyday views without permanently deleting them from our systems. To request deletion of your account and associated data, email support@heatseatedu.com.
Security
We use industry-standard protections such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), authenticated accounts, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this policy as Heat Seat evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
